Best Genre Series: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Buffy the Vampire Slayer swept nearly every awards category, and here picked up a substantial 53% of your votes. Other favorites were The X-Files (10%), Angel (8%) and First Wave (8%). (And to that zealous First Wave fan who spammed us with over 300 votes from the same ISP -- your ballots were disregarded.)

Best Actor: JAMES MARSTERS

Believe us, we're just as shocked as you are! Lust on legs walked away with 21% of your votes, followed by fellow Mutant Enemy babe David Boreanaz (17%). The durable David Duchovny scored 12% despite the fact that he's on The X-Files; meanwhile, First Wave's Sebastian Spence landed 9%, with Angel's Glenn Quinn (7%) and Buffy's Nick Brendon (6%) close behind.

Best Actress: SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR

Maybe now the Emmys (and the Golden Globes, and every damn other award show that wussed out on Buffy) will learn: Sarah Michelle scored 41% of your votes, with castmate Alyson Hannigan receiving 19% of her own. The X-Files' Gillian Anderson placed second with 22%.

Most Undeserving Cancellation: HARSH REALM

Harsh Realm, the show that we feel puts the "deserving" in "undeserving cancellation" barely edged out the competition here, with 19% of your votes. Close behind were Strange World (16%), Millennium (15%), and Brimstone (12%). Our favorite answer, however, has to be Glenn Quinn of Doyle fame; the deceased Angel character received 10% of your ballots.

Hottest Actor/Actress: DAVID BOREANAZ/SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR

Now this is a surprise -- the Angel star outdid James Marsters, who placed second, followed by Glenn Quinn, The X-Files' Nick Lea, Sebastian Spence, David Duchovny and Now and Again newcomer Eric Close. For the women, Sarah Michelle Gellar captured your votes (among other things), while Alyson Hannigan, Gillian Anderson, and Charisma Carpenter also merited approval.

Best Writing in a Genre Series: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Is there any doubt? Buffy's unbeatable writing team scored 62% of your votes (and of the remaining 28%, half went to fellow Mutant Enemy production Angel). Among the most frequently mentioned names: Jane Espenson, Marti Noxon, David Greenwalt and above all, Joss Whedon.

Best Direction in a Genre Series: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

And they can direct, too! 56% of your votes went to Buffy, with special attention lavished on the excellent episode "Hush". The X-Files followed with 17%, while Angel picked up 12%. Also noted: Millennium, Crusade.

Best Fight Scene: BUFFY VS FAITH

Buffy and Angel absolutely dominated this category, with particular attention given to the "Graduation" battle between the Mayor and the School, Buffy vs. Spike in daylight, and the Xander/Harmony bitchslap. Buffy vs. Faith, however, captured the majority of the ballots, although one reader wrote in on an entirely different program altogether: "The casts and crews of all his shows rising up to kick Chris Carter's pompous overblown ass."

Best Villain: SPIKE

His network of the WB may have been mentioned multiple times, but that didn't stop James Marsters' Spike from taking 57% of your ballots. Following him were the Mayor, X-Files' Cigarette-Smoking Man and Krycek (so put them on the damn show again, already!), and a surprising number for The Devil from Brimstone.

Most Impractical Clothing Choice: THE CAST OF BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Oh the detail! Readers shared their bafflement over: "Willow's ugly ponchos", "Buffy's ugly-ass blue coat", "Buffy's middle-aged lady ensembles", "all those backless shirts on Buffy", "Buffy's red leather pants", "Buffy's tight miniskirts and heels", "Willow's hats", "Xander's shirts", "Angel in Hawaiian shirts", "Buffy and her little purses", "the idea of Buffy/Spike/Xander/Angel/Cordelia wearing any" and much more. Also mentioned: Scully's Wonderbra, 7 of 9's shoes, and that unnecessary towel covering Eric Close on Now and Again.

Producer/Creator You Loathe with the White-Hot Intensity of 1000 Burning Suns: CHRIS CARTER

The Golden Surfer God took a little tumble in this category, with 56% of our readers expressing disdain for "Mr. Friggin' Asswipe" who "ruined three of my favorite shows, including Space: Above and Beyond." More surprising was second place winner Joss Whedon, but you did have your reasons: "Why Doyle?!", "For Doyle's nine-episode contract", "He killed Doyle!" As one reader explained, "It's a love/hate thing." Other names: Berman, Braga, Spotnitz, Katims...

Best Use of a Tired Cliche: SEX IS BAD ON BUFFY

For taking that whole doomed lover thing... and that whole men are evil thing... and even that whole impotence thing...and making it seem somehow new, Buffy dominated your votes once again. Other cliches busted: Angel, the tormented vampire with a soul; Angel, the spin-off that doesn't suck (so to speak); and the roommate from hell on Buffy.

Best Performance by a High-Cheekboned Blonde from Modesto, California: JAMES MARSTERS

Wow! He won again! Isn't he just remarkable? "I have a feeling this category is rigged..." complained one of our readers, and we have nothing to say in response -- we're too busy drooling. Also of note: many tried to work their way around the obvious answer to this category, suggesting Sarah Michelle Gellar or Jeri Ryan -- "She moved around a lot," suggested one reader.

Worst Genre Series: ROSWELL

"You're right; they're wrong," commented a wise 11th Hour reader of our ongoing onslaught from Roswell fans; the televised Sominex picked up 22% of your votes. Also receiving substantial attention for just sucking hard: Harsh Realm, G vs E, The X-Files, Voyager, Earth: Final Conflict, Millennium, and The Crow: Stairway to Heaven.
