Release Date: March 3, 2000

WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL? The most eagerly asked question since "Who wants to be a millionaire?" ...by Garry Shandling fans.

THE CAST

GARRY SHANDLING: Comedian from The Larry Sanders Show. He was Larry Sanders. Garry also has the dubious distinction of voicing a male pigeon in Dr. Doolittle. For What..., Garry stars as the alien lead and also co-wrote the screenplay.

ANNETTE BENING: Recently seen in American Beauty, the actress' previous credits include Mars Attacks!, Bugsy, The American President and In Dreams.

JOHN GOODMAN: John Goodman is cool. Recently seen giving brainpower to Eric Close, he has also starred in The Big Lebowski, the TV series Roseanne, Fallen and -- oh yes -- C.H.U.D..

GREG KINNEAR: The Talk Soup guy with an Oscar. Also in As Good As It Gets, the Beavis and Butthead movie, Dear God, Sabrina and You've Got Mail.

THE CREW

MIKE NICHOLS: Makes important films about sex, like The Graduate, Carnal Knowledge, Primary Colors, and obviously this forthcoming gem. He also directed Wolf.

OTHER

What Planet Are You From? is a Columbia Pictures production, produced by Shandling, Nichols, and several others.

THE PREMISE: Earth Girls Are Still Easy. This alien love comedy (the first of two to be released this year) tells the tale of alien Garry Shandling, who comes to Earth to breed. Due to physical differences between his alien race and people, he uses lotsa funny contraptions, and it's like, really funny and stuff. Really.

GOSSIP and USELESS FACTS:

  • The screenplay credit in the IMDB lists four separate writers.
