"Deluge"
Air Date: September 24, 1999

Posing as a bounty hunter, Cade Foster (Sebastian Spence) follows the trail of a mass murder to a town where it hasn't stopped raining for over two years and the locals are partaking in some of that old time religion: Druidism.

Once again Cade stumbles across a Gua experiment meant to test the limits of the human psyche in order to ease the transition into the Second Wave. This time it involves an entire town and instead of searching for a scientific cure or delving deep into the problem from a common sense outlook, they fall back on the old ways and begin worshipping as their ancestors, the Druids, did. And that includes human sacrifice.

To tell you the truth, I'm beginning to tire of these Gua experiments. The focus of each episode has become just one more secret that has to be uncovered. Every week Cade destroys the Gua in charge and every week the humans most affected by it either ignore the ramifications of an alien presence on Earth or decide that they've got better things to do than help.

Put simply, the show has become formulaic and unless things change pretty quickly, and from the previews for the next ep it doesn't seem like it will, I may just give up on First Wave.

Then again, maybe next week Sebastian Spence will show up in a tight t-shirt and I'll change my mind.
