Espenson also has her own favorite Buffy episode, which turns out to be an unholy enthusiasm for "Ted". Yeah, you read that right. "Ted". The one with John Ritter as an android.

"Oh, I loved that one!" she raves. "I think it's incredible. Because the mislead is so convincing. I was so convinced that the episode was about... a Slayer uses her powers inappropriately, and attacks an actual human being out of purely human emotions, and then realizes she's gone too far. So the twist of the robot was, I thought, just really, really stunning. A really great moment."

And if Espenson had her way, in fact, Ritter would return to the series.

"I want to bring John Ritter back. I want to bring Ted back. And there's nothing saying we can't do that. I think if I came up with a great story for it, Joss would be happy to do it and maybe even let me write it. But I just... the story would have to be so great that I just don't know if I can find it. I just haven't thought of anything yet that's just perfect."

But it doesn't stop with Ted. No, she's got bigger fish to fry, and more dead men to resurrect.

"I loved the character of Principal Snyder, so much. I love Armin Shimerman. I just think he's brilliant and I would love to bring him back in some way. Again, if I had the perfect story that involved the ghost of Principal Snyder, I think Joss would let me do it. But it would have to be so great. It's the same problem.

"And in a way that really sums up perfectly what it's like at Buffy. It's like there is no story that he wouldn't let you do, if it was good enough. And the struggle every day is trying to think of something that is Joss-worthy. 'Cause you work and you work and you work and you spend months trying to come up with an idea, and you go to him with an idea, and he's like, 'Or, we could do this!' And off the top of his head he comes up with something that's twenty times better."
