The 11th Hour Reader's Choice Awards
Your chance to tell us what -- and who -- was hot in 2000.
My, how the mighty genre has fallen.
At this exact time one year ago, 11th Hour was gearing up for its first reader's choice awards, and boy, was the selection sweet. Whether in the form of Kevin Bacon wielding his mighty shovel, Haley Joel Osment doing that whole dead people-seeing thing, Keanu and Carrie-Anne whupping some virtual ass, or the endless joy meted out by Buffy, Angel and the cancellation of Harsh Realm, 1999 certainly left our readers a lot to choose from.
Not so this year.
Those of you who voted in the past may have recalled the film category divided into two sections, one for sci-fi and one for horror. To avoid an overkill of ballots with the phrase "Pitch Black" written over and over, we've decided to extend the movie category to simply "Genre". And while we know we've been a bit, shall we say, flexible and broad in our definition of the word this year, we expect more of our readership than we do of our pathetic, Russell Crowe-worshipping selves. Try to keep it in the Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy area, and keep all those plausible, real-life type movies away. That kind of thing scares us. To help you in your quest, we've included this handy list of 2000 genre films here. So enjoy, spread the word and please read the rules below before submitting!
The Rules: Failure to comply with these regulations will result in termination of your mortal existence by the 11th Hour Spork of Doom. We will also disregard your ballot.
- You may vote once and only once. Ballot stuffers will be disqualified.
- Movies/TV series nominated must have aired or been released theatrically between January 1 and December 31, 2000.
- Nominations must be of a sci-fi/horror/fantasy nature. We have provided a list of all films and shows that we believe qualify; if there have been any oversights, feel free to write in your own choices. However, nominations of a distinctly ungenre-y nature will be disqualified. (That means you, Dude, Where's My Car? fans!)
- Leaving sections you have no opinion on blank is fine. Please note, however, that you can only send in your ballot once, and you can't go back and vote for them later.
- You must fill in the required information with your first and last name as well as a valid email address (i.e. someone@somewhere.com).
- Voting is open until January 31, 2001. Votes received after that date will not be counted. Be sure to check for the results in our February issue!
