Sci-Fi Teen
US print magazine. November, 1999
"After my tour of dozens of Buffy sites, I wanted something general, covering multiple topics but still maintaining focus and detail. The 11th Hour (http://www.The11thHour.com) is a refreshing new web magazine with reviews of sci-fi and horror movies, videos and TV shows. It's also loaded with feature articles like 'The Man Who Would Be Vader' and 'Sons of a Witch', an article on the guys who made The Blair Witch Project."

.net magazine
United Kingdom print magazine. November, 1999
"A relatively new site, The 11th Hour concentrates on horror and sci-fi films. Its slick design is inviting to read, though the reversed out white text becomes a little hard on the eyes after a while. When .n visited the site it had features such as an interview with Gunnar Hanson, of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame titled 'He Came, He Sawed, He Conquered.'
"As well as new movie news, there's also information on cult TV series and video releases. For fans of lighter sci-fi fare, there's plenty of news on Episode II (Star Wars mania starts all over) and even the sleeper hit The Sixth Sense. Highly recommended for your bookmarks. (.n)"

Inscriptions Magazine (http://www.inscriptionsmagazine.com)
Weekly E-Zine for Professional Writers
Inscriptions named The 11th Hour their "Link of the Year" in December of 2000. Their evaluation of the site follows:
"The 11th Hour is more than a fanzine -- it is a well-written look at all that is speculative in entertainment today. Movies, TV shows, books, comics and videos are all reviewed, and some of the top creators in the business are interviewed by this online publication. The style of the magazine is elegant -- 40s noir meets the modern age. But the most intriguing thing about the 11th Hour, the factor that separates it from hundreds of other e-zines, is its interest in targeting the female science fiction/horror fan base. Since I fit into this category, I fully intend to make this site a favorite stop each month, and wholeheartedly urge you to do the same."

The Nashua Telegraph (http://www.nashuatelegraph.com)
New Hampshire newspaper. March, 2000
Columnist Holly Bedard wrote several paragraphs about 11th Hour in an article on female genre fans. Here is an excerpt:
"The 11th Hour, www.the11thhour.com, is a playground of 'horror, sci-fi and other stuff that chicks dig.' The all-female staff gives a fresh perspective on what is mainly considered a 'boy's hobby.' Feature articles cover topics including: the impact of the recently released 'Pitch Black' on sci-fi movies; a guide to 'Now and Again,' the site's pick of the best show you're not watching; a status report on the movies being made from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien; a look into what Hollywood is doing to comic books; and Bruce Campbell, who was brilliant as Ash from the 'Evil Dead' trilogy and Autolycus on 'Hercules' and 'Xena: Warrior Princess.' There are also reviews for just about anything you could think of: movies, videos, TV, books and comics. If this site isn't enough proof that that girls like things that don't necessarily qualify as 'chick stuff,' there's more."

Dark Matter Chronicles (http://eggplant-productions.com/darkmatter/)
Scifi and horror e-zine. Reviewed June 10, 2000.

Here is an excerpt from their review: "There is just something special about The 11th Hour. Its layout is clean, easy to navigate. Its features cover a wide range of genre topics. There are reviews of current genre TV shows, movies, videos, books, and even comics. The daily news tidbits keep you up to date on the latest Anakin rumor or ill-advised remake coming out of Hollywood^ÅWhat^Òs special about that? There are other sites out there that do the same thing. Yahoo describes it as horror/sci-fi entertainment magazine for chicks. That is what makes The 11th Hour something out of the ordinary. The enthusiasm leaps off the page at you, infecting you, making you want to read more because of this different angle and attitude. One of the nicer touches of both the features and regular sections of this web magazine, is the humor, or more often sarcasm, injected into every piece, whether editorial, essay or interview. The women who bring you The 11th Hour aren't just content to give you information laced with humor. You also get a liberal dose of opinions. The humor doesn't take away from the information or ideas contained within. It just makes the reading such a pleasure."

CHUD Creature Corner (http://www.chud.com/horror/)
Weekly online horror magazine. January 26, 2000
"A truly great and elaborate monthly publication. On the 11th day of every month, the stars shine brighter, the wind carries a new hum, and the new issue of THE 11TH HOUR arrives. Run entirely by ladies (had to mention that, though it's hardly the reason it's great) it has the TLC and attention to detail most sites lack. Thank us later."

In Brief (http://www.briefme.com)
Online Magazine
"Interested in getting a different perspective on Sci-Fi and horror shows? Head over to The 11th Hour. You'll find interviews, articles, reviews, and commentary with a tongue-in-cheek tone that'll have you laughing long after you surf on. Updated on the 11th day of every month, the current issue includes interviews with "Buffy" writer Jane Espenson, actor James Marsters, Gene Roddenberry, Jr., and the chance to vote in the 11th Hour Reader's Choice Awards. The archives are definitely worth a look--their take on "Roswell" caused such an uproar among fans that it's still being discussed on the 11th Hour Message Board. You may agree or disagree with their opinions, but you won't be bored."

Realms Magazine (http://www.realmsmagazine.com)

Realms awarded us three stars. They say: "Just to show that we have no problem giving props to the competition - the 11th Hour, an online sci-fi horror webzine for girls is none too shabby. Good interviews and features and a nice, smooth layout - all from a female perspective."

Nuke Town (http://www.nuketown.com)
Speculative Fiction E-Zine. Reviewed October 18, 1999
An exerpt from the review: "And what about the female perspective? It avoids the in-your-face approach of other sites and instead uses a subtle to not-so-subtle one that won't turn off male visitors. Most of its reviews end with three summations: drool factor, gross out factor, strong chick factor. I don't have much use for the drool factor--which rates the men in the movie--but I enjoyed the perspective.
"The gross out and strong chick factors though, are exactly the kind of things I look for in movies. Forget wishy-washy women leads--I want strong women actors who can kick ass and chew bubble gum with the best of 'em."

Cincinnati Enquirer (http://enquirer.com/)
Ohio newspaper. Featured August 5, 1999.

Web This Week (http://www.webthisweek.com)
Canadian online magazine. July 19, 1999
"The 11th Hour is an online magazine devoted to bringing you the very latest in the world of science fiction and horror entertainment. Inevitably, these things usually turn out to be odes on gore and carnage, yet the 11th Hour veers off into a different direction. The 11th Hour focuses on the Sci-fi/horror genre in a way that shows how much the creators of the site enjoy the genre. The commentary is in-depth and knowledgeable, but it is also at times quite witty and amusing. The 11th Hour features movie reviews, TV reviews, movie news, links and more. The site also features full-length articles on the shows and movies that make you squirm with fright. From 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'The X-Files', to 'The Phantom Menace' and 'The Haunting', check out the 11th Hour's easy to use and well-designed site.
Rating: 4 ½ out of 5 stars."
